WENDY JASON
ARTIST BIO
Wendy Jason is a curator, cultural organizer, and arts administrator with over 15 years of experience at the intersection of the arts and justice. After relocating to Tulsa, she launched JustArts Gallery, building on her work facilitating creative writing and peacebuilding groups in jail, stewarding the Prison Arts Coalition, and founding and leading the Justice Arts Coalition. She creates exhibitions, partnerships, and collaborative programs that challenge carceral logic while centering the voices and visions of people who are incarcerated. She holds an MA in Coexistence and Conflict, focused on Peacebuilding and the Arts, from Brandeis University.
ARTIST PROJECT INFO
Through Kite Strings, eight Tulsa-based artists are paired with artists who are incarcerated for several months of creative exchange, developing work in parallel or collaboratively. An exhibition of their final works and process materials will be presented in early 2027, with receptions featuring participating artists, including calls from artists in prison, and readings of correspondence. The project builds creative peer relationships that foster interdependence and mutual learning while expanding artists' visibility, agency, and sense of contribution.
